The Butkus Foundation

Hall of Famer Dick Butkus is widely regarded as one of the fiercest linebackers in NFL history.  When he and his son, Matt, a former defensive lineman for the USC Trojans, learned that over 500,000 high schoolers were experimenting with steroids, often with tragic results, they decided to do something about it.

In 2007, the I Play Clean initiative was born, and since that time, the Butkus Foundation has reached out to millions of high schools students, laying the facts about doping on the table and trumpeting the call for a return to honest competition, where integrity was the norm.
